Kenny first saw success as a solo artist in 1982 when he signed a deal with Arista Records. His debut album was in the same year and went gold and the next two albums went platinum. He gained international notoriety when he released his fourth album titled “Duotones” in 1986. This marked a new turn in his career for the better.

In 1992 Kenny released “Breathless” an album that saw astronomical success selling 12 million copies. Still, to date, this album remains his best-selling. His next album reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. 

In 2000 Kenny performed in the White House. He released his eighth album in 2002. Kenny became the 25th highest-selling artist in America by RIAA as he sold 48 million by 2006. In 2020 Kenny appeared in a release of The Weekend. He appeared on Imperial Trimphant’s song in 2022.
