The Indian Open is part of the Asian Golf Circuit that takes place in India. The event was inaugurated in 1964 at Delhi Golf Club. But this year the event will take place both at DLF Golf and Country Club as well as at The Gary Player Course.
A total of 144 players are participating in the event. The list of player participation includes 33 Indian golfers. Last year’s champion Marcel Siem will not try to retain his throne. Siem hasn’t seen any recent wins after the event in 2023.
Anirban Lahiri is back for his next title. He won the 2015 title. So, he will be a strong contender for the trophy this year at the Hero IndAian Open.
Kazuma Kobori, who won the 2024 Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit, will start the tournament with high confidence. There will be players like Nicolas Colsaerts, Jordan Smith, Guido Migliozzi, Yannik Paul, and many more.
Hero Indian Open 2024 Purse:
In 2024 the purse has an astounding number of $2.25 million which was $2 million last year. It’s a $225k increase from the previous year. So a change in the individual payout is also noticeable.
The winner will receive a handsome amount of $382,500 whereas the amount was $340,000 in 2023. It’s an increment of more than $40k.
The 1st runner up and the 2nd runner up will receive $247,500 and $141,750 respectively. As usual the prize pool distribution includes the top 70 players and the top 4 receiving a six figure prize.
The player who stands last, that means the 70th ranked player will get $4,275, while the 68th and 69th ranked players will receive $4,500 and $4,725.
